What Is the Difference Between the Dependant’s Pass and LTVP In Singapore?

The Dependent’s Pass (DP) is issued to the family members (e.g. spouse, children, parents) of a Singapore Employment Pass (EP) holder, Personalized Employment Pass (PEP) holder or a Work Permit holder.

The DP holder is allowed to stay in Singapore on a long-term basis and is granted employment eligibility. The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) is issued to the family members (e.g. spouse, children, parents) of a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. The LTVP holder is allowed to stay in Singapore on a long-term basis but is not granted employment eligibility.

Eligibility For a Dependant’s Pass

The immigration people will consider a range of factors when determining eligibility for a dependant’s pass. These include:

  • Relationship with the applicant – The applicant must be the spouse, registered partner, or child (under 21 years of age) of the primary pass holder.
  • Financial stability – The primary pass holder must demonstrate that they are able to support their dependant financially.
  • Character assessment – The immigration people will check that the dependant does not have any criminal records or immigration violations in their past.
  • Education – Depending on the type of pass, the dependant may need to prove that they are enrolled in an educational institution.
